Larger than average vintage style Fender bridge?

I have an urge to swap out all my hardware on my Squier Vintage Modified bass with nickel plated hardware (I like it when it patinas).

But... The original stock bridge is a semi-high mass bridge and I really want to get a more vintage tone from the thinner style bridge. But I'm concerned that there may be a mark on the body from being screwed down and if I get the regular vintage style bridge, which is smaller, there may be lines on the finish showing.

Is there a nickel plated, vintage style bridge that has a larger than average footprint?

I have the Squier Vintage Modified Precision P/J bass. It's a bit over 3 inches long and a bit over 2 inches wide.

The allparts vintage style bridge I was looking at (threaded style) is smaller than that, but maybe there's a fender version that's more the same size?

I don't think what you're looking for exists but even if it did I don't think you'll hear any appreciable difference in tone as the Squier bridge plate isn't so much bigger as to change the character of the bass. The biggest gains will come from changing pickups and strings.

I had a similar idea a while ago (Eastwood Magnum bass). There isn't one that I know of; the requirement for nickel plating is the stumbling block. I'm afraid that your only choices are:
- nickel plated, smaller footprint, and (maybe) some visible marks; or
- same footprint as the original, but lose the nickel.

Unless, of course, you have one made, or get a chrome one, and have it stripped and re-plated in nickel...;)

You may be right. Plus, I haven't taken the bridge off yet. There may be no discernible line on the finish, anyhow.
