Laser beam fuzz. What is it

the Sun is star like Pluto is planet.
First post, but I feel it's about something very important.

I am looking for that smooth siliconee lush fuzz sound, not that buzzy distorted raucous noise fuzz. Preferably in a small and cool looking package.

I have never built a pedal board for bass, but have gone through lots o' pedals for guitars and drum machines and pianos and saxophones and...

I was thinking Russian muff variant, but don't know where to look.

I play a MTD KZ5 with a half wound on the B string on Nordstrand splits/Bartolini preamp into an orange tb500 combo. So far the board is a Fairfield Randy's Revenge, 3leaf Wonderlove, and EQD ghost echo.

Thanks, and pleased to be acquainted.

I think the settings I've used on the Swollen Pickle fit that description - very synthy in my opinion, a bit scooped, and perfectly tame since I don't have the gain way up. Selling mine though, because I can do a very similar sound with my Disnortion's fuzz channel.

I guess when I thought "laser" I thought smooth and precise, like "laser" hair removal. I've used the pickle on my guitar board before and was happy with it. The filter knob makes a lot of sense for bass application. I will give it a go. Aren't the new swollen pickles smaller than the original mkII's? Do they all have that super ugly graphic?

I think the dirty Donnie and the regular version are both widely available new. And used! The Swollen Pickle is a great deal on the used market. I agree the art on the Donnie version is beyond lame. I hope someone got fired or something.

The Black Arts Toneworks Pharaoh Supreme has 6 clipping modes and some very useable parameters for bass, it probably has the sound you want in there somewhere. I'm really thinking hard about one, the problem is it's still pretty new to the market, so used ones aren't around yet!

Yeah for the super precise fuzz on my Pickle, I have Scoop just past noon, Crunch at noon, Filter at about 1:00 and Sustain (gain) down, just a hair past 9:00. On the Disnortion I get a decent approximation of this sound on Fuzz shape 5 with the gain at noon or so.

The Pickle with the graphic on it is the Dirty Donnie edition, which moves the trimpots inside to the outside I believe, and it's a bit smaller than the original and normal MkII versions of the pedal.

That make sense. Just when the words lazer and fuzz are mentioned I automatically think Lazer Fuzz.:)

so...i like the idea of the outside trim pots and the smaller size...but that graphic...i might have to sleep and or drink on this.

You could always get it rehoused if you like it or depending on how those graphics have been done find some way to remove them. Kind of a creepy graphic really. If I wanted a Swollen Pickle and got the DD edition I don't think it would bother me that much if it sounded good but I could see why it would put people off.

eight times out of ten I think that disliking something based on the aesthetic is wrong, book by it's cover, yada yada yada...but i don't really play out much and i pack a lot of thinks into a small room and i have found that keeping things clean goes a long way.
a picture of a pickle riding a cloud of farts while skankin' is not what i consider clean, i just hate to get distracted by something so menial, but i do, because i guess i'm really weird.

the laser thing though, i guess there is a certain amount of "gatedness" to it, but i think the pickle has that.
i was thinking about the rehouse, but then i was thinking that if i was going to go that route than i might as well get a regular pickle and just have pots put on for the external trim pots, which then takes a relatively affordable pedal and turns it into something else for a price and that seems silly.

i guess now i'm also in the market for a cool sticker to put over that stupid pickle thing...
