LAST CALL - I'll be making my final decision Sunday, October 5th. I'd like to set expectations here - this amp is NOT for gigging. It is strictly a practice amp. I just had the speaker upgraded as I didn't like the sound of the Celestion that was in it. It's better, but it can only be pushed so far.

That said . . . . I'd like to pay it forward with a little used Jay Turser Classic 30b bass practice amp. It is ideal for the person who wants to learn to play the bass and needs an amp that won't tick off the parents or the neighbors, but still allows the player to hear themselves!

I'd like to hear from my fellow TBers if you know of a someone in need. I don't want this to go to somebody who can afford it - that's not the point of my offer - so please don't respond with an "I'll take it!" Rather, I'd like to hear who you think deserves it and why. It will then be solely up to me to decide who to send it to, with my decision being final.

The amp works as it should. BTW - I think it sounds much better with a 4 string passive bass. An active bass and low B string seem to overwhelm the little bugger, so keep that in consideration when nominating your deserving person.

It's in beautiful condition with one small ding or two on the front of the wood and a tolex ding on the back - both not that noticeable unless you were scrutinizing to buy it - and you're not!

Here's what it she looks like:

I have a friend who isn't a talk bass participant but mingles with bass. He has an off brand p-bass that isn't the best, but gets the job done. Right now all he has for amp is a VERY small electric guitar amp, not even a bass amp. He doss not have a job right now, and is tight on cash. I think he would really appreciate something like this , it would be a big upgrade from what he uses now.

Last call! I'll be notifying the TBer that I think presented the best person for this amp on Sunday. Please read the initial post as I've updated it for your consideration. Thanks for all the nominees so far!

I'm throwing my hat in the ring but not for myself. I have a neighbor who is a young budding bass player of who is 11 years old. I have been teaching him for a while now. However the young man doesn't have an amp. He received his bass last March for his birthday. His mom is a single parent and doesn't have a real good job so it took her a while to be able to afford a bass for the young man and at this point it looks as though it'll be tough for her to afford to get him an amp. He's a good kid who never complains about not having an amp. I do let him use an amp of mine for his lessons but having an his own would enhance his learning experience. As young boy myself many moons ago I was in a similar place and I was, honestly, planning to buy him a small amp for Xmas as way of paying it forward for the help and encouragement I received all those years ago.

i think the amp is really pretty. I think it's great when folk give stuff away. I've done the same several times. I gave away a Peavey Mark VI and paid for it to be shipped to a young lad in Alberta I think. I mentioned that I had a BDDI that I disliked. Someone asked if I wanted to sell it so I gave it to him and I paid the shipping too. A harp playing neighbour I gave a little 22W per channel stereo practice amp and a microphone to go with it.

Giving stuff that you have no need or real use for to someone who can make use of it feels great. No hassles with money or posting the thing for sale and it clears away stuff to make room for more acquisitions! :D

OP, kudos Bro - your heart's in the right place. :)

I have seen similar things done on other forums and every single time I think what a wonderful thing it is to do - so kudos to the OP for paying it forward and helping out a fellow player, or an aspiring youngster. If it is a youngster that is helped out they are getting not only a gift to help them as they embark on their musical journey (hopefully one that will last a lifetime), but an incredibly valuable life lesson in being generous to others. Once again, a big thumbs up to the OP for doing this.
