Lateral Nut Position Wrong?

Looking @fretno 's closeup of my bridge, I can see the G string is not on the bridge saddle correctly. Putting that string in the bridge saddle helped the symmetry a little.

And a little business card shim and pulling on the neck while tightening the bolts did the trick. In fact, I went too far on my first attempt.

Not much changed at the nut - it still needs some work, but I just played it for an hour and had no problem with slipping the E string off the fretboard.

You might still look at getting the nut redone. I've found getting the string height at the 1st fret makes a massive difference in playability. Lower is better for me.

so to mostly wrap this up , it looks like the BA has had the saddles cut a little off . I would replace those saddles . Most BA's are unslotted . I personally don't slot them but rather just put a wee slice or 2 with a file just to keep the string in place and that's after I play it for awhile , the strings will mark the saddle where it naturally sits and you can go from there fine tweaking it out . I stick to the norm Fender spec string spacing while aligning all the pieces up more or less and done .

but I don't use those boat anchors any more . I use a standard Fender or KTS which are both light weight .

I also prefer the Fender BA clone over the BA , I like the single saddle slot and it's a little shorter , the BA can be so long it almost hangs off the body . The Fender is also cheaper . it's a great bridge . Have you seen the bridge ?

Alternatively OP can buy Hipshot Kickass saddle set (not the whole package, just the saddles). They drop right into BAII and they are adjustable.

You may be able to just swap the saddles around till you find an orientation that works the best.
