Laura Lee of Khruangbin

I was vaguely aware of them, then finally saw them last October at a festival that was conveniently only a 15 minute drive from my house(Desert Trip). Oh, man! Their music is like a narcotic, an amazing blend of a variety of sources. She is so solid and tasteful, but understated, the guitarist is equally unique, going from funky to shred(not in an Yngwie sense but more like a psychedelic Dick Dale), and the drummer is a groove monster but never bombastic. They’re so minimal, but still have a full sound for a trio. Just got their new album yesterday. Going to see them again in about a month.

I just discovered them myself, and came to TB to see if anyone realized she was making those fantastic tones with an SX. I'm getting ready to go on a 4 hour road trip tomorrow (it's fishin' time), and their music is going to be featured prominently.

Great lineup, unfortunately they aren't going to be on the TX leg of the tour (why...)

I hope they do a spill over show for ACL or something
Because they’re the new “lil ol’ band from
Texas”; seriously, who knows, probably got better dates booked. I’m scared that they’re moving past “see ‘em in a small club” status, but I checked them at a festival in a tent with about 600 other people, so that’ll have to do.

If my PTO at work lines up with some of those Leon + Khruangbin dates, I might end up using it as an excuse for a little mini vacation... Beautiful Missoula MT!
