Lawnmowers are sky high!

I broke my very basic Lawn Machine mower when I stripped the cylinder trying to put the spark plug back after it stalled. Doggone aluminum cylinder head and a steel plug was set for someone like me to strip.

I started looking for a new lawn mower and I quickly realized that the simple gas mower with no options has disappeared. I see an emphasis on gas and electric riding mowers and a very heavy emphasis on electric push mowers. Five years ago, I paid less than $200 for a basic push mower, now it seems that $800-$400 mowers are the norm. I was not expecting to spend so much.

You can likely fix your cylinder head with a Helicoil. Classic fix to stripped plug threads in an aluminum head.

A solid thread repair insert is better than a Heli Coil for a spark plug..... imo and all that.

This kit will do the job nicely......

I’ve had a couple of battery powered mowers in recent years. Ugh. You’ll need to pry my Honda-powered LawnBoy push mower from my cold dead hands.

Doc - if you avoid Home Depot and Lowes, you’ll find better options at dedicated shops…like a Honda Powersports shop, for instance.

You may find a used machine that fits your budget.

My lawn is a good size. I don’t want the battery dying on me right in the middle of mowing.

I’d check out facebook marketplace for a used honda push mower. Ask for a video of it running and mowing.
