LBM poping through amp

I just got a little big muff from the classifieds and it making a LOUD pop when engaged. I am running it through the effects loop of my bassbone, along with 6 other effects. I have two other EHX pedals, a bassballs nano and a q-tron micro that don't have this problem.

My order of effects is:

bass -> bassbone -> (send) -> Strobostomp -> Digitech BSW -> Bassballs nano -> LBM -> Q-tron micro -> multicomp, unichorus -> (return) -> Aguilar DB750 input/passive mode.

I tried with all my basses, same results. I also took the LBM out of the loop and ran it straight to the amp with the same results.

Any ideas?

This is just one of the many faults of True Bypass switching.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do that will guarantee a "pop-stop" other than buying a buffered pedal...

Previous owner says he had no poping problems. I have 2 other EHX pedals, which I assume are true bypass (are they??) and they don't pop at all.

Edit: My stobostomp is true bypass as well, and it also "pops" but it is much much much much much quieter pop than this LBM.

IME, Electro-Harmonix uses some of the worst switches in the world. I have had switching problems with halfl of their pedals that I have owned. I would open it up and check the connections. Good luck.

It's really the most random thing... They pop sometimes, but other times they won't. I had pop problems on a pedal once, and I brought it back to the store. They demo'd it right in front of me, and it didn't pop at all. I still returned it, though. Maybe it was my gear. Maybe it was my signal chain. Maybe the stars were in alignment, who knows?

This is just an unfortunate random evil that you always have to watch out for.

Mine does this also as well as every other one Ive demoed. Fortunately, I tend to be playing when I engage it so you really cant hear the pop.

Maybe your not understanding. If it were a click or a pop like my strobostomp, then fine. but this is CLICK ... oops I almost broke your speakers loud.

In my experience even brand new gear will do this from time to time.

Try eliminating the possibility of interaction. Run the LBM alone in the loop and see if it still does the same thing. It might improve with a new switch, or perhaps some new coupling capacitors, but cross that bridge when you come to it. For now, just try and work out if it's a combination of factors that's contributing, or if it's just the LBM itself.

Yeah, same results in every test I run. It even pops through my headphones (run to my Tascam CD-BT1).

No, I know what you mean. I think they are all like this. It will cause my amp to clip when I turn it on. Thats some bad juju.

All my true bypass pedals pop, some louder than others.

Switch 1 on my Psilocybe is REALLY FREAKIN' LOUD, yet Switch 2 is pretty quiet, and the on/off switch isn't bad at all.

Like I said, it's absolutely random. There are ways to help (possibly) reduce the pop sometimes, but there really isn't much that you can do to completely eliminate it, guaranteed.

Sure there is- I just squirt a good amount of superglue into the switch housing. It works great, try it!

mayb e run the LBM in it's own loop and use the loop to switch it off and on and not the pedal itself?
