First, let me say I think the 8PR200 is probably the best all-around performing 8" on the market. But I also think this 8FE200 looks like a very good driver & an even greater value. It doesn't have the 8PR200's xmax, almost nothing does, but compared to all other 8" offerings, the 8FE200's xmax is pretty good. The 8FE200's combination of attributes is, imho, right around the absolute top of the heap (60Hz-5kHz, 130 RMS, 95 SPL, 4 3/4 lbs., 4.67 Xmax, 89cc Vd, $60). The $60 is the kicker. How Faital does it for this price is baffling. My very uneducated guess is that it's worth at least another $30. As it is, I think it's an excellent deal. I'm probably going to have a 4x8 built using these (in a 412-type configuration). 4 of them come in at 2/3 the price of 2 8PR200s. The box will be bigger/heavier, yes, but still of very reasonable size/weight. Displacement will be 356cc vs 324cc on an 8PR200 2x8. Sure many would rather go $120 extra & do the smaller/lighter 8PR200. Excellent & understandable choice. I just like opting for the 4x8.

Don Oatman is building this cab for me. Hadn't seen your post previously, just ran across it now. Two 3015s, Selenium D220Ti hf driver crossed @ 2kHz, & Selenium HM25-25 90x60 aluminum horn. And as for your last sentence, yes, I think it just might.
I am so stupid. I had both of my mod8 mids out and experimenting when I realized that one of them, the one that I've done all my exeriments with is actually a C8R !!!!!!!!! Parts express sent me the wrong one way back when so I had lds use it in my 15/8. I thought something was off. So, it's rhe C8R that I really like. I knew that the frequency response chart wasn't jiving with my ear on this one.
Has anyone else who had this type of cab built used a different mid? Im sure that one guy went with a celestion but, I haven't heard about it yet. I know that a guy in Australia went with a mod8 and I appologize for leading him down that path now that I realize I've been using a C8R for my cabs. The mod8 still sounds good, just not as loud and proud as the C8R.
Just an update. Since installing th CA154 I have used this cab on a few jams and really like it. It would be loud enough on it's own for some of my gigs but not all. Definitely all if I went through the pa. The CA154 was a good change. I do wish that the new eminence beta 10 cbmra would have been out when I built this cab though. It looks really good.
I ordered a celestion TFO818MR sealed back mid range driver to try too. 8" Looks pretty flat from 800hz to 4k and then has alittle going on at 5k, then drops off. Very efficient too.
I loaded in the celestion and really like it. It is smooth and clear without and clack or nastiness. I think this is my favorite mid that I've tried. I've got nothing to nitpick with this one. 
A number of closed back mids have too much clack or a nasal sound to them. A closed back mid that sounds good means you don't have to build a mid chamber - good find. As long as your going Celestion have you considered pairing the TFO818MR with a BL15-400X woofer? This is an 8 ohm, 400 watt rms, 96 dB/w driver with a 4.75 mm Xmax and 40-3500 Hz. It works well in a sealed cab and compares favorably with the Legend CA154.
My only beef with the CA154 is only being able to get it in 4 ohm. I suppose two of them in series would provide an 8 ohm load with a 600 watt thermal limit and 500 watt excursion limit. Probably not a bad match with something rated for 500 Wrms into 8 ohms like the GK MB800 or GB SM9.2. Also, have you had the chance to evaluate the Faital 8FE200 mid? Thx...
You mentionned that 8's were a little warmer than 6's. The 8FE200 looks useable off-axis up to 4.6 kHz and on axis to 6.0 kHz.

With that extended frequency response and sensitivity reaching to 100dB (averaging about 98 dB between 2.5 - 5.0 kHz), I wondered whether it could hang with a pair of CA154's in an 8 ohm cab like this with a crossover at 1000 Hz? I thought with the small footprint and tall vertical format it might make a good sealed stage cab when used with a FOH system to do the heavy lifting. With proper choice of materials and bracing it should be relatively light and easy to move.

I don't know about keeping up with two woofers. The celestion that I have in there now may do it. IMO you can't really always tell how a mid is going to keep up with a woofer until you actually try them. The frequency response charts will get you close but, you just can't be totally sure. I'll be using my sealed cab with the celestion at tonights acoustic gig and will let you know how that works out. Unfortunately since Im using a stock 8ohm 800hz eminence crossover with the 4 ohm woofer, the woofer is low passed at 1600hz and the mid at 800hz. Really, since they are stacked vertically there should be no off-axis filtering, just a 3 ohm load between 800-1600hz. Probably not a big deal.
Are you still liking the celestion? I am thinking 5stringspocket's 1515/8 looks promising with the ca154's and this mid. With the sealed back I could build the enclosure in a few hours, and only have less in total driver cost than a single 4015.
Yes, I think the celestion is overall the best one that I've tried. I would probably build a heavier crossover though. Those Ca154's can take alot, and sound good doing it. That would be a pretty good cab as long as you tune it right.

Okay, I'll bite. After rereading this thread I really think a tall, slim 1515/8 is a good single cab solution for that sealed cab/ceramic magnet vibe but a single 15 just doesn't do it for me. A stack of two 15's and an 8 should get the height and dispersion right for a good stage cab. Castors, a tilt-back handle, and a weight just under 70 lbs would be sweet. A pair of Eminence CA154 would work well in this but I'd still rather have a 4 ohm load so I'm taking a hard look at the Celestion BL15-400X woofer. I haven't been impressed with the specs on most Celestion bass speakers but this one looks like it would slam in a sealed cab. I modeled it with 3.1 ft3 (1.55 ft3/woofer) in WinISD and Eminence Designer. It falls midway between the Delta 15LFA and Legend CA154 in frequency response and power handling. It's about -1.3dB down from that 135 Hz hump of the Delta and has 100 watts more excusion limited low freq power. The Celestion pair is 2.2 lbs lighter than the Legend and provides a 4 ohm load. It has 96dB efficiency/driver versus 96.9 for the Legend but because of the 4 ohm load it has +1 dB higher output at 500 watts. The response curve is a bit more ragged than the Eminence but it looks promising and might sound pretty good crossed at 1000 Hz with that TFO818MR. I think it would be well balanced with no attenuator. A 1000 watt crossover should handle a 4ohm, 800 watt cab. Sub compartments make the internal volume easier to manage and would work well with the bracing I have in mind. I adjusted the rough drawing a bit for these changes. It would be nice to hear from someone who has tried these Celestion woofers. If I can get this settled and sell my 410 I have a notion to build one of these.
