Le Fay Basses

Craftsmanship, attention to detail & good design are too rare. I see all 3 on these basses.

From a distance, the headless bass I saw appeared to have Mighty Mite Hardware. I wonder if those are a LeFay design, too?

I'd be very surprised if you saw any Mighty Mite stuff on Lefay basses...ABM maybe, but not might mite.
How old is the bass you saw?
You can, of course check on their website if it is the current hardware you saw. :-)

What is left of my college German says the hardware is their design.

We are talking about the Pangton with the darker wood. I am guessing it is the Sycamore top (Riegelahorn).

Riegel Ahorn is flame maple but I guess sycamore belongs to the maple family(?).
If you are talking about the first bass you see when going to lefay-I'm quite sure that's wenge.
Got a picture of the specific bass you mean? :)

i had a lefay herr schwarz 5 string that is now owned by another TB'er...best bass i've ever owned, period...i SO want it back :D true, the hardware now used on lefays is all of reiner and miko's design...great folks...they even wind their own pickups in the shop...lefay will easily match anyone in craftsmanship, in my opinion...great basses, very ergonomic and play quite easily...

I saw one for the 1st time in June with Stambaugh's on the same stage for comparison. I was definitely impressed! 8-)
