Double Bass Leaf Inside Bass

I was practicing outside under a tree before a performance, and as luck has it a leaf fell inside one of my f-holes. Does anyone have any tips on getting it out?

Hi.

Auto mechanics use a gripper with a long flexible shaft to remove bolts and nuts and tools that they've dropped.

Shouldn't set You back more than a $1 in a Dollar store. Twice that much somewhere else .

A stick with a piece of chewing gum, blue-tak or a piece folded tape in the business end will work also.

Turn the bass over, jiggle until the leaf is over the hole and use chopsticks to pull it out.

Vacuum cleaner?

A vacuum cleaner should work fine. In the past, I've been able to clean things out by using a length of plastic tubing duct-taped to the end of a vacuum hose.

It's only a leaf. Does it really matter if it stays in there? It will dry out and curl up to almost nothing.

I've heard that if a maple leaf falls into a bass that has either a maple back or sides (back preferred), they mate and a new Canadian (sorry, I had to) baby bass is born from within the previous bass. It eventually matures and outgrows the confines of where it came into being and shatters the old bass, kind of like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
