They were BUT with that bridge placement they didn't play like shorties.

Not sure, but I'm guessing they didn't go Gretsch Junior Jet with them.The last thing I need is another bass but that green one...Not quite as good looking as the original lipstick Rascals but still... very nice!
Are they made by Yako like the rest of the Paranormals? If so I expect the build quality (and QC) to be a step above the Indonesian Cort/Samick Squiers. It might be a bit heavy though... Is it a poplar body? All the current poplar body Paranormals I've played have been extremely heavy, including the guitars. Generally I tend to like the tone of heavy basses but this might be a dealbreaker for a lot of people.
Any idea how these pickups are voiced? Are we in Fender split coil territory or is it more like a classic humbucker tone?

Agreed! I think all the other basses and guitars in the Paranormal series are poplar body so I'm guessing these are too. As far as I know all the other Paranormals are also made by Yako, which is generally a step above the Cort/Samick Squiers IMO. In fact, Yako-Squiers are probably the only instruments in the entire Squier/Fender range I would currently take a chance on buying online without testing. If the serial number starts with CY they're made by Yako. This is actually the first time in a VERY long time I've gotten excited about anything coming from Fender.
I just noticed last week that Fender is making a Maverick guitar based on the parts-guitar they offered for a couple years in the late 60’s. Would be neat to see a bass offering with that body.
Okay, this is gonna sound crazy, but could you mount the bridge closer to the end of the body? It almost looks like there’s enough room to make this at least a 32” scale, if not a full 34”…
That needs to be played with nasty loud fuzz. Very cool. I dig that green finish.
Mainline. I presume USA made, due to the $2k street price, but I haven’t confirmed that. I know some of the MIM special models have hit the $1k mark, so a $2k MIM model wouldn’t surprise me.
IIRC The Fender Rascal was short scale but the length of the instrument is about the same as a Jazz. I thought they were cool and almost bought one. The Fender came in a cool turquois color.
The lipstick pickups on the Fender version were cooler-looking, but these don't look bad and I wonder how they sound. Offset fingerboard dots and matching headstock is cool, too. Would be interesting to mod the wiring so it can run in stereo like a Rickenbacker.
