Playing the part on a 4-string tuned in Eb standard could change the way I play the ghost note we have been discussing.

If the part is meant for a 4-string tuned Eb, we have the issue of the transcription being written "as heard" (Eb) rather than "as played" (E). Probably not relevant here, since I believe we are mostly concerned about reading the rhythms.

Try singing or tap the rhythm without your bass. While doing that tap your foot on the quarter note pulse. Notice how the tones relate to the pulse. When you can do that you can also play it.
