What is the best way to learn to read actual music on bass?
I play trumpet so I can already read treble staff really well and I am still sorta new to reading the bass staff.

Practice reading and playing to actual music. Get some sheet music and go at it. Some lesson books would be good to, but not the ones that combine tabs and notes. You will just cheat and not really learn it.

It is not hard it just shifts down one space. The trebble "A" space is the bass clef "C" (A string 3rd fret). The open "E" is one ledger line below the staff. If you understand the way the trebble clf works you just need to retrain your brain a little.

I had to do the same. I stated my formal music training on the saxaphone.

I learned to read music on bass because I already knew the bass cleff because I play trombone. I would get a fingering chart for the neck of the bass and play simple trombone music books or something.Thats how I did it.

Whoo! I am the same - used to play trumpet, but play bass now (amongst other things).
The hardest part for me was not the change to bass clef from treble clef, but the note positions on the neck. It still takes me time to figure out what note is where because I have to think about it consciously, so I still cannot fluently sightread on bass.
Just keep at it.

If I recall correctly, Sir Paul started off with a trumpet because it was a heroic instrument at the time. It's in the bass player book.
Ah,here it is.
"I would have been about 15 or something,and me Dad bought me a trumpet,because it was kind of a heroic instrument at that time. Me dad had been a trumpet player,so he showed me a bit.But I realized I couldn't sing with the trumpet and I wanted to sing as well,so I asked him if he wouldn't mind if I traded it in for a guitar."
He got a guitar yada yada yada, no one wanted to be the bassist, boom, Sir Paul.
