Double Bass Learning tunes -- how do *you* do it?

Thanks, Dave. By "clean", I'm not sure if you mean intonation or tone. If the former, it's mostly just repetition and more repetition, and I'll be trying to refine this to the end of my days.

If tone, there's a right hand technique I could show you in about 5 minutes. In a nutshell, it's a way of playing two notes at once while simulating the kind of "playing through the board and the string just happens to be in the way" kind of rest stroke that we normally use on one string at a time. To practice it, extend your RH thumb and middle finger fully - so that the only way to move them is by rotating your wrist - and place them on the fingerboard outside of the G and E strings (they don't naturally oppose each other, so don't try to make them; the thumb will naturally be further toward the nut than the middle finger). Instead of squeezing inward, press down into the board and rotate the arm/wrist clockwise and through both strings, trying not to lose contact with the board so that both fingers come to rest on the inner strings. The wrist motion is the same as turning a doorknob. You'll need to build up a new thumb callous to do this for very long, but it's a neat technique that sounds pretty good after a couple thousand reps, and has a lot more punch and sustain than a typical "pluck and release" type of pizz stroke. Hope that made sense.
