I like Bud's designs alot. I also like the fact that he has an already-made fanned fret design on his model list, which i'm almost positive my next bass will be. He seems to lean more towards woods that i'm not terribly in love with, however, and i'm a big fan of neck-through basses, which i'm not a big fan of. That being said, it's not a deal breaker for me and i'm sure he's willing to build a wide range of woods even if it costs a bit of a premium.

I've really heard nothing but great things about them on here.

I have no doubt Bud would build a bass with whichever would you desire (to a point). The woods on his quote list are seemingly the most popular choices.

BTW this might be a good excuse to post a pic of my babies, a couple sweet STSS5's. My band won't let me show up with any other bass but the P/J either, it just kills!

Those are flipping awesome. Makes me want a matching pair even more

My new pickups will be the Bart "P" sizes, but the ones in that black bass are EMG size. You won't want to put EMGs in that bass. That would mess it up. It's been almost a year since I built that bass, but from what I remember I don't think you'll be wanting to change anything. I think you're correct on the controls.

I can't wait to get it! The bass is actually in Texas right now (Hutchins, to be exact). It looks amazingly rock 'n' roll, and I'm sure it'll be METAL!
