There are so many great Tommy Tedesco stories but nothing beats Chuck Rainey's story.
I remember reading Tommy T's article in every Guitar Player magazine.
FWIW Tommy did have a wide selection of instruments in has car trunk but unless he knew ahead of time to bring an instrument it would likely stay in the trunk. Doubling on 'exotic' string instruments was a way TT made extra bucks on sessions, but they were all tuned like a guitar.

I really felt for Lee when says how he sight read charts for four hours while Pino Pallidino got three days pay because it took him longer to get the parts since he does not read. I can only think how good Pino is that people are willing to pay that expense to get his sound.
