Lefthanded Fender (Player/MiM) Precision vs. Sire P5 - Europe

Hey everybody! I've been considering getting a Precision bass to round out my arsenal but I've been doubting between getting a Fender Player/MiM Precision and a Sire P5.

Since I'm located in Europe (the Netherlands), lefthanded Fender Ps are basically unobtainable everywhere, whether it's Thomann or the like. There's one guitar store offering one but for 919, which is way out of line for a first gen Player series instrument. I was able to try out the righthanded versions of both, and the green Sire looked AMAZING, but I'm just not a huge fan of the headstock. And I can't deny that I'm a sucker for having a true Fender to play with. The Fender I tried wasn't set up properly though; the frets were sharp and sticking out of the neck on the side and the action was unbearable.

Does anybody have any advice which one to go with? I know that comparison is the thief of joy. The Sire would be the better value and more easy to obtain, but I'm scared that I'll keep lusting after having a real Fender.

I think you already replied to your question 😅

I have 2 Sires (V7 and V7 fretless, 1st gen). They are phenomenal for the price, very well made, and sound great.

If you really need a P bass, go for the Sire.
If you don't need a P bass, but you would like to have one for the sake of having one (to complete the collection), then maybe take your time, check online stores, local stores, but also used gear on Reverb, and see if a Fender that fits your taste shows up.

I don't 'need' it as in that I need it to stay alive, but I just really want one, since I only have two jazz basses (one fretless) and a Sterling Stingray, but most of my favorite players are P-bass players. I've been looking around on local Facebook groups, Marketplace, Reverb, etc. for months now to no avail..

Then I would say to give a chance to the Sire :) Maybe the headstock is not your favourite, but it has a roasted maple neck and fingerboard 😍
