Lefty sadness

Every once in awhile it makes me a bit depressed playing left-handed due to the lack of choices compared to our right-handed playing friends.

Latest example, can't get it left-handed :(

Any options for something similar? Am I out of luck completely for a Fender active bass?

Luckily I live near Southpaw Guitars in Houston, but they can't help if a model is just not available as lefty.

You gotta get some perspective on this. Your worst-case scenario is a custom shop build or something like a Warmoth.

I'm right-handed and have a plethora of bass choices, but I would rather be in your shoes than dealing with my increasing arthritis and deteriorating motor skills. Just sayin'...

For myself, I long ago gave up on off the rack leftys. I now usually find a base model I want then strip it and rebuild the way I want. This can be all new hardware, new paint job or more. For example I wanted a reverse Thunderbird so I got a righty used. Had it routed lefty and went to town. All new parts, emgs, custom preamp, gotohs, repainted it all for under $1000. I've done this with fenders using squire bodies, mim necks and came out awsome

That active fender can be done waaay cheaper and better than a custom build wich is outrageous. I can't say enough about squires these days. Also, there's warmouth where you get just what you want.

I see this whole situation as a food thing as it forced me to learn how to do things myself like wiring, paint, set ups, ect. I only have someone do something if I can't, like maybe cut a nut. Now, I can build it myself and its way cooler to me, "i did it my way"

That is pretty sweet! It would be fun trying to build one myself like that.

What Squiers were you referring to? I do have an old Indonesian P-Bass special, but it's fallen out of favor with me since I got my American Standard a couple of years ago.

I think the situation for us lefties is better now than it used to be due to the internet. There are lefty specialty guitar/bass dealers on line now that can enable you to get lots of stuff that you would never have been able to find before. I would also recommend leftybassist.com for the classified - bought and sold several basses there, good people.

Pretty much any p bass. The older ones weren't pj and seem better. The necks are OK but the mex necks are great

You can get any Carvin bass model in either right hand or left hand. That's the first question asked in the "Bass Builder." No upcharge. All other options (i.e., body wood, top wood, neck wood, fingerboard wood, color, finish, hardware, etc.) apply. One of the advantages of having an instrument made to order.

On the other hand, no pun intended, I have a southpaw friend of that kills'm on left hand deals acct of the merchandise doesn't move as much. He'd spot something and wait like a year later and if it was still there he'd lowball the ship out of'm and they'd bite every time. That was back in the day, of course. I miss those daze.
