it took a little less than a year to get it done. Ellis does a great job of communicating progress and sending pics, so you are always aware of where your instrument is in the process.
Does anyone know if Ellis does 35" 5 strings? I know Sadowsky only did 34 and the website only says 34, but not sure if there is a hidden option or request for 35 inch scale.
Probably worth a direct message or email question. Responses aren’t immediate but I’ve had some questions responded to over DM on Instagram.
I'm in the middle of a build with Ellis - and they respond to emails about twice a week (at least that's been my experience). Ellis is VERY easy to work with - and has been super helpful in the whole process. Report back what you hear re: 35" scale!

Ya man! So the satin will match the matte black guard and I’ve got a black with silver flake sparkle finish on the body. Seeing the headstock made me almost wish I went all satin lol
I had cooled my jets on the LEH front for a minute but you guys are getting the GAS out again.
My biggest hesitation is the cutaway on the low string side. I tend to like a deeper cut (smaller body) but I could live with the LEH format. I think.

This Is going to be soooo dope!
I just picked this up 4-String used while Ellis is making me a custom 5-String. Came with flats. Looks cool, sounds amazing. Love it! 
These are from a friend who isn't on TB. He's a veteran with back issues so when he placed the order the weight goal was 8 1/4 pounds... and hey, look at that! He says balance is perfect, no neck dive, and he's 100% thrilled overall.

These basses are as close to perfection as you can get with the exception of that headstock. No offense but that is off to me.
Apparently they do that for the tone benefit of more mass on the headstock. It was explained in some interview I believe. And there are other luthiers with a similar vision on the correlation between tone and headstock mass. Though I agree it's not the prettiest headstock even made.
