1099's are generally no problem for musicians. Unless being a musician
is 100% of you livelihood, I will bet my bottom dollar that you have
enough deductions (e.g. gear and expenses) that you won't even
have to pay Social Security taxes on it (i.e. your adjusted income will
be less than $600).
No 1099's are not a problem IF you are a full time musician. Otherwise it is a major headache for the one guy in the band who is 'dumb' enough to give the Sand's or any other place their personal Social Security number. Also remember, that the Musician's Union still has some representation there and other corporate venues. Get audited someday and see how fast your band mates flee....
