Lehigh Valley, PA Bassists

I'm from NY but travel frequently to Lehigh Valley, PA simply because my company corporate headquarters is located in LV. Many times I am out there and have the time to go out and see (hear) the music scene, any suggestions?

I can kinda say I'm a resident of the Lehigh valley, but thats only until I graduate from Moravian this coming may :p. After that I'm moving back home in the shadow of the city (which is New York, not Philly!)

I hate to suggest this but the Sands Casinos do have some good bands every night of the week. Its real easy to park and get in there. And most important, its all free...no cover or anything. Here are some local bars/clubs that have good music too:

Pearly Bakers Ale house- Easton twp.
Starfish Brassaire-Bethlehem
Machs Gute(its a german name)Pub-Bethlehem
Wildflower Cafe-Bethlehem
Mesa Luna Bar-Allentown?

There is a free local paper called Metro that lists all bands and gigs each week so you can take your pick. There is a great 80s rock cover band called Addiction that plays once a week locally you should check out. Their bass player is awesome.:D

Yeah, I pick up Metro every week to see who/what's playin. I don't get out too far but hit the bars around my area. Some good bands.

Don't forget Pigpen in Atown (just a block from Dave Phillips btw). I havent been to the pen but hear they have a pretty nice setup there. I gotta make it out.

Now I guess i need to pull up Addictions page.......hehe

I used to live right behind Moravian's football field (and down the street from the college itself). There used to be that place across from the football field that had lots of bands in it. It has been through so many owners though, I have no idea what it is now. There used to be the Sterling (is that still there?) also in Allentown, and before it was Jillians, whatever it was called across the street had bands every now and again too.

That was once a place called Mickey Kellys across the street from the Moravian fields. It was a happinin' in the early to mid 80's....Sterling Bar recently closed.

I'm roughly an hour south of Allentown. But I know some people from the Lehighton area. Plus one of my favorite prog bands are out of that area, Shadow Gallery. They have a pretty good bassist, Carl Cadden James(I hope I got the spelling correct).

Ahhh yes, Mickey Kellys...then it was Silver Star Saloon and something else and then something else....

Wow the last few times I was at the Sterling, it was PACKED. This was a while ago though. I remember when it was just a small place with one room and a band would set up on the wooden box they called a stage! lol

Ive been trying to remember that rock club in the lehigh shopping center off union blvd at the allentown/bethlehem border...anyone remember that one? I went there a million times but can NOT remember the name! They had bands all the time and it was a cool place.

I do know of rehearsal space in Allentown. My drummer has a warehouse with rooms in it. We rehearse in one of them, and other bands have used others. There are small/medium ones and also a pretty nice one that a band just left because they broke up. Two rooms - a "stage" area and a recording area. PM me if you're interested and I'll provide you the info.
