Some people think having more knobs means more control and thats just wrong. They are different animals. Many get frustrated with a mid control because they can't figure out where to keep it all the time and some pre's just have an ugly freq point so they leave it centered all the time.
A 2 band has a center point on the Bass and Treb, as you boost or cut the Bass and Treb the Mid actually moves with it.
On a 3 band, that Mid freq is centered with the pot so as you cut and boost the bass and treb the mid does not float and the mid functions by moving the Pot.
A preamp with a Mid control will not sound like a 2 band, once you add that pot it changes the whole make up of the eq. of the Bass, Mid and Treb. I figured out a way to wire up a switch so that I can offer both, the True 2 band eq as well as the 3 band sound.
