Les Claypool's new bass

Interesting, I though the Rainbow bass was retired because of it's massive weight. Claypool has favoured smaller, lighter instruments for a long while now.

Curious. I haven't followed Les' career for ages, so I wouldn't know. My 36" 2007 6 string fretless CT weighs 8.6 lbs. I have a 34" 1978 4 string CT that weighs more at 9 lbs. From the 8-10 CT basses from I've seen & held, my sense is that Carl tends to build lighter basses than he used to. But "heavy" is never a term I've used to describe any CT bass.

I really like the Fender-esque style of this bass! As much as I like basses with natural finish and visible wood figuring, I think this new Pachyderm bass looks incredible.

Something Ritter(ish) about it too - the design is slick. Very modern. Like a CT/Ritter mix - I dig it.
