Les Claypool's New Bass!

Adorable

I've seen this bass before.....or something very similar.
I can't remember where. Maybe it was in the Luthier Corner...but the squarish-ness of the scroll and the headstock looks very familiar.

This is going to drive me nuts.

Anyone other then me find the fact that its only a 4 string funny?

It has a very appealing shape that would probably be market friendly.

At least it doesn't look exactly like a jazz bass like every other bass manufacturer has found time to do over and over and over....

Yeah, I like that matching curved cut on the main horn and headstock. Looks like 28! frets or something, long scale; she's probably a little top heavy.

I don't think it looks longscale. To me it looks 34/35, maybe even 32. Maybe its the angle, i'm not sure.
I wonder whos making it/what its gonna cost. My guess is he saw the fleabass and said "i can top that!" and has started this up himself.
Who knows this could take off. He doesnt seem like the kind of person to go "hey I have an idea to make more money". Im sure he's been offered tons of endorsements for basses and turned em all down and stuck with carl thompsons. My guess is it's something he was interested in doing and being in another part of the music industry.
