Les Claypool's New Bass!

primus is mainly a live band at this point, and they haven't put an album out in years, and les' solo stuff does not sell all that great. then again, nobody sells all that great anymore ;)

A new cd is due out this spring. With Jayski on the kit and the fun this new line up has playing together I expect it to be absolutely awesome.

As far as this sig bass goes... I don't have an opinion either way really. I never really saw Les as a sig bass type, but whatever.

edit (jt) : yeah, i added that.
uh blah

I dunno..the bass in the photos with Les looks like a Rickenbacker made love to a CT and that is the offspring. It also kind of fits with Les holding it. Not going to speculate beyond this....gotta see what (if any) comes out and what the price point/quality is.

I also hope les does not pull a Gene Simmons and really overprice an middle of the road construction bass...(sorry Gene, more power to ya and you are one of the main reasons I hack away at bass, but I cannot see paying what you want for basses...)

Yeah, as someone said, the new Primus album is dropping this Spring. I talked to Jay back in November at this little clinic him and Skerik put on, and he said they had 5 or 6tracks recorded already and were about a 1/3rd of the way done.

I was at both New Year shows. Les said he got that bass on the 28th or 29th, just in time for the 30th show.

They played Part IV of the Fisherman Chronicles, called "The Last Salmon Man", off of the new album both nights. I got the lyrics Les had on his monitor for the 30th show, so if anyone's interested, I could post them. There are some pretty good youtube vids of it already up.

Didn't someone post a design like that on here not too long ago? I just remember the headstock being very similar (and very large in the drawing). I'll try to find the thread...

EDIT: My bad. I was thinking of this one, which doesn't really look similar at all: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=723382&highlight=design+contest

Les' headstock looks really familiar though.
