What' s the bottom device in Claypool' s rack for a brand

Invalid Link Removed

Last year he used a different (but again unknown brand) device (bottom again):

Me was told that the two mid devices are both dbx 160a. But a dbx 160a looks different:

Any ideas?

This was taken last month at the oddity faire:

I've been seeing that keyboard on top of his rack the past couple years.. never seen him adjust it during a show but the repeat appearances suggest it's there for a reason.

He also used his acoustic bass on the recent tour, due to his tendency to hide in the shadows I wasn't able to get a decent photo of him using it, but you can see it in action here:

Got a really neat sound on it.

That' s a Access Virus TI synthesizer. Some people say it s controlled via the MIDI Ground Control footpedal made by Digital Music. But the same people wrote that he uses a dbx 160 and a Korg 3000, which i can' t see on the pictures.

@xzzy - from what show are the pics and have you seen Ampeg amps on stage?

Chicago, in March. The 22nd I think? I can't remember that far back!

I can't remember the last time I saw the ampeg logo on his stuff. Part of the problem could be, only the last few shows have I brought a camera and without a camera, I forget what I saw by the time I get back to my car. ;)

Any further back than ~5 years ago I'm completely useless because I wasn't interested in gear (heresy, I know).

No flaming allowed but I have never listeded to Les Claypool's music. I have read articles about him. I think he was in Primus (?). Remember no flaming...I just never listened to his music. He is coming to my city in June. As he is a well respected bass player I am considering going just because. So is the concert one long jam or extended jazz fusion pieces or music with an undefined genre? Or what can I expect?

Thanks.

I think it depends on what capacity he's touring in.. if it's as Primus, he'll probably stick to Primus songs.

If it's one of his side projects, he'll probably play a lot of fan favorites from his career, with a moderate dose of jamming mixed in. He did put out a new album last month, not sure how much he'll be pushing it come June. I've never found the improvisation distracting.. it's never dominated the show so if you show up to hear your favorite songs (assuming you have any), you won't be disappointed.
