Let down by GK!!

I totally Agree that's what i did. i had an early model MB2-500 that i didn't have problems with my amp. One day my red light just started flashing repeatedly during normal play, so just to be on the safe side i went ahead and sent mine back to the factory. I got an 07 version and its been flawless ever since and i've had mine revised amp for over 3 years. I had read on Talkbass about all the problems people were having with the early models and the GK was switching any flaw models so i took full advantage!!!!

Roughfully a year ago I contacted RAG when the MB2-500 failure discussions we're just starting here at Talkbass and asked if my nearly new MB2-500 could be up-graded to a unit "known" to be fault free.

I was told, "If there's not a problem", no.

Honestly, that's the response I expected at that time.

Well, now there's a problem with it!

We'll see how it's handled.

Haven't had a response to my e-mail yet, but I just sent it this morning.

Well to be honest with you bro i had to bend the truth a little. Like i said before, my input was flashing, pad on or off, i was a bit concerned. I didn't want to take any chances, so i told them that my amp was overdriving in low volumes, and they gave me a return number to send it back. one week later i had a brand new revised model. i think had i just ignored what i thought was a potential problem, i would probably be in the same boat.

my mb115 was great for a year or so and then developed the buzz- also a well known issue for the model. Unfortunately there is no auth dealer in CT and the mom and pop repair shops dont want to deal with sending an invoice to GK. GK at least offered that anyone who is reputable could send the invoice, but they were pretty cold about it and there was no sorry or anything. I also have a rb700 so I am using that but missing the combo for the small gigs. I will have to get this one repaired because of the cost of buying new, but will go to another company when reinvesting in a lightweight combo in the future.

If the amp has a one-year warranty that just expired and you paid for it with a credit card, your credit company may cover the cost of warranty repairs for another year--my cards have that feature although I've never tried to use it. Good luck, Bob

Darn good idea. It saved my butt over a Sony 300 DVD changer that never worked properly. The Card company sent me a cheque that covered the whole purchase price plus all the taxes.

I'm really hoping RAG will chime in on what he recommends that I do.

I've had a G.K. head on stage with me for 28 years and never a problem till now.

Just checked my e-mail...nothing from the G.K. service dept.

If I've not heard from them by the weekend a phone call will be made.
