Let the Buyer Beware...part deux

Gil.
I'm really glad...proud even, that you have a Lakland factory installed Dark Star pickup on your bass.
I've got a very small, one man company, catering to a boutique market of bass audiophiles. It's not hard to keep track of who is using my pickups.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for choosing a Dark Star. I know you must have paid a premium for this feature. I sincerely hope you are able to enjoy and appreciate it in spite of all of the real problems that you have had to endure.
Believe me, I understand. I've had to fight through similar scenarios. You have a right to complain but I firmly believe that it will all work out in the end and you will be reimbursed for any lost investment...except for the stress and resulting gray hairs.

To the rest of you who really know nothing about the complexities of this issue...I'm reminded of high school, when a couple of guys (or gals) got into a fight. The whole schoolyard would erupt into the yell "fight! fight!" and everybody would go running to the source of the action. Sometimes people would even kick the guy who ended up on the ground first, not even knowing what the original conflict was about. Very primitive ****.
Actually I only saw this once when I was a freshman. The next time I heard that call (fight!, fight!) I ran the other way.
I'll bet that many of them were church-going Christians who somehow missed the message.
There is something to learn here. The internet is a strange place. People don't realize that there are real people behind these posts and that these posts may be around for a very long time to be read by many people in the future.

As we have learned recently in the news, what you say in these forums has a real effect on other people's lives (no matter how insignificant you think you are). There is always a cause and effect.
Think before you post.
I never use a masking "user name" for this reason. I stand behind what I say...and it's also good for bidness! (wink)
Steve Barr has been very good to me. I don't know if you (Gil) would even have a Dark Star choice if it wasn't for Steve Barr. I owe Steve this tribute and wish him and yourself the best in working out this problem.

I agree with the spirit of your post and I am a fan of your pickups. I found this comment kind if offensive,"I'll bet that many of them were church-going Christians who somehow missed the message." As the people that are posting here and elsewhere might not be fully informed of the situation the same goes for you wit hregards to the posters. You don;t know anything about pretty much anyone that has posted so far in this thread so that assumption is not called for.

The truth is indeed an ultimate defense in slander/libel cases and I did indeed drop the ball on this one and I'm sorry.

I will return to this thread and post the outcome no later than this coming Monday at 5:00 pm Chicago time.

No word from Mr. Barr although I have received a positive response regarding the formal complaints filed with the Arizona State Attorney General and the FBI's Internet Fraud Division.

Lakland has been paid in full by myself and Mr. Barr has my mailing address and phone number. It was included in the several communications we've had but so far no inclination to return the $500 of mine he's been sitting on for 14 months.
