I'm sorry, but giving out "Likes" to everyone just devalues the idea. It's like the "self-esteem"--if you praise everything someone does regardless of the actual reality, pretty soon "being good at something" has no meaning and there is no basis for making an objective assessment of your own talent.

By all means, if a band truly appeals to you, then "like" it. But otherwise you're just dumbing everything down. This is how people like Justin Bieber become popular.

Sorry if this offends anyone; it's just the way I see it.

This has been brought up a few times in this thread already. The gist of it is.....if you're not into it, don't bother with it.

But please don't come here just to chide others from doing it....because in the grand scheme of life, noone cares (or can even know) about the authenticity of a pages "likes" - and by short changing free "likes" from a band because of some falsely perceived "honor" of authenticity....all a person is really doing is turning down free exposure and publicity. This holds espicially true for any original bands that are trying to "make it".
For them, Free nationwide publicity trumps. "Unfounded authenticity snobbery" every time.


This actually used to be known as "networking".

I love these holier-than-thou dopes that feel the need to come here and pontificate. We get it man, you're really cool and you're above this sort of thing. The thing is, no one cares about what you have to say and posting in this thread about how you think this thread is dumb serves absolutely no purpose, other than to hear yourself talk and to feel better about yourself since you're SO much better than this. No need to call him a dope. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but it is silly, in the context of this thread (as you point out) for him to pontificate on that obviously out-of-place opinion. It's also silly and pointless to participate just to announce that you won't participate.

There are completely valid purposes these kind of bolstering "non-fan" likes serve for facebook pages. That's a fact.

How there is a parallel with Justin Bieber's popularity...what!?! :confused:

That's some deep thinking there.
