Lets All Help Each Others Bands With A like On Facebook!

I hate to pour cold water on this tread, but let's get real. A lot of likes of your Facebook page is nice, but if we all just click "like" on one another's Facebook pages, it doesn't do much. Likes have little or no intrinsic value. The real value of a like on Facebook is access to the news feed of the person who gave you that like, so that you can promote gigs, recordings and merchandise. And remember, access to the news feed isn't enough either, you have to work that feed regularly and intelligently. Just getting into the news feed of fellow TB'ers, however sympathetic, isn't going to sell much of anything.

I hate to pour cold water on your post, but let's get real, we don't need your lecture about the benefit of likes, no one cares. This has been discussed in this thread before and we all came to the conclusion that it is beneficial for us in our minds. So, if you don't want to participate, then don't, but don't come here try to lecture us, because like I said, no one cares.

If you don't care, fine. Not lecturing anyone, and anyone's free to do exactly as they please. Just my two cents, And I actually think I'm as entitled as anyone to give my opinion as a member on this forum.

actually likes do help. let's say you are a venue promoter. are you going to book the band that has 15 likes or the one with 700??

Fair point. On the other hand, unless those likes are real likes by real fans, it will not reflect the real following of the band, and he will likely only book that band once. So likes that we support one another with are worth far less also in this context.

This has been discussed ad nauseum here.

While you have your right to your oppinion....it contributed nothing at all to the thread itself. So there was no reason at all to " throw cold water" on us. All your concerns have already been addressed and dismissed. If you had read it all, you'd have known that. So just jumping in to pee in our Cheerios is unnecessary.
We respect yet dissagree with your assessment- feel free to not participate.

Have a great day.

I didn't realize this had been covered, and I apologize for pehaps being a little categorical. I'm a fairly new member, and hopefully I might be forgiven for not having read the entire thread (it's a lot to go through). Still, I feel my point was relevant, but it's no problem - we can agree to disagree.

Dude, you saw this thread, clearly didn't read through it, passed judgement on us, and then made snarky remarks about "getting real". Your point is not relevant and literally contributes nothing to our thread. You certainly are entitled to an opinion and the right to express it, but when you do it in a snarky, holier-than-thou fashion, you should expect a little blowback.

All the more reason to have him come to this thread and make the initial investment of liking all the other bands, like we all have done, then we can all like his band. We definitely don't mind helping out a brother bassist but he needs to do his part as well.
Yeah, I mentioned it to him, and he is a member here on TB, so hopefully he will come join the thread!

... you're certainly welcome to your own opinions as much as I am to mine.
Very true. My opinion is that more likes are a good thing. It's all about networking and getting your band some exposure. The more people that know about you, the better. This thread has been great, if for no other reason than for us to get to know our fellow TBers and see what they have going on!

As I said, I came on a little strong, and I apologize for that. The blowback I don't mind at all, you're certainly welcome to your own opinions as much as I am to mine.

Its all good man.

Even if you don't believe in the premise of the thread.....as stated above....its pretty cool to see what all the other TBers are doing promotion wise/ listen to performances. It takes just a few seconds to click over and like a band. * shrug* its not gonna hurt.
