wow, didn't realize how many headlesses were around here. Well heres my kubicki. Best tapping machine I've ever played.
How do you like your Stealth? What would you compare it to? I'm considering a Stealth or S2 headless. Any comments about them you can make would be helpful. And if you are so inclined...about what do they sell for in the UK? Thank you.OBBM said:My recently acquired Status Stealth 5

It's almost apples and oranges, though they both sound great.
I had the XL-2 restored with new EMG's - a (warmer) HB at the neck and a (snappier) HBCS at the bridge going through passive V-V-T. It's a great sounding bass with the classic all graphite Steinberger/EMG sound.
The Status is another beast entirely. First off, those pickups are hot! Lots of output going through the 18v pre. Besides the bass/treble cut/boost there's a variable mid sweep connected to a 3 position toggle for +6dB, -6dB or flat. Mahogany body/graphite neck adds its own flavor. You can get much more extreme settings vs the XL-2. I like this bass with flatwounds - excellent focused thump, clear as a bell.
As for balance, I've always had some problems with small horn basses like this because of the position shift they incur. But between the 2 end pins and a nice wide strap I found a spot where I can play it comfortably. It's not really fair to compare the Status (or any other "standard" type body) to the XL-2 since it's a unique instrument with a unique support system. When I first got it and put it on I thought I made a huge mistake - though it does balance well it did take some getting used to.
