The Grandaddy of the boutique bass, let's see 'em. Any TB'ers have an instrument featured on their "custom featured" page? (Or of similar quality).

For a complete Alembic GAS attack, go to the Alembic Club.

Beautiful...and your list of past and present basses is mind boggling. I'd kill to have that Alembicized Starfire. It would probably quell my hunger for all things 70's Phil Lesh.

I never actually had that Starfire up for sale, but regularly received unsolicited offers to buy it. Finally I had 2 offers that were too high to refuse - so I sold it to a TBer/Pitter for the lower of the 2 unsolicited offers I had (they were very close). The guy who has it now is definitely the person who should own it, and had asked to buy it whenever I decided to actually sell. I'm glad he has it - it is a very special bass.

The 2 I have now are spectacular, each in their own way, and I'm very happy with them.

In my opinion, it's hard to go wrong with an Alembic.
