Well, this got delivered last night. Brand new. Price was unbeatable.

They're all a little different too. Different bridges and looking at the pups compared to the screws on the PG, the pups between all three look to be slightly in different locations compared to each. They come that way or you mod them? All neck through?
All 3 Epiphone birds..left if Vintage Pro (neck through, the other 2 are bolt on) which is the new kid, but is now #1 bass. Great tone, playability, and it looks perfect (to me anyway!), the middle is Goth model and sounds and plays good in it's own right...even though it's pups are the same as the Tbird IV in the right it sounds noticably darker. The one on the right is my 1st "real" bass and it's become a string test-bed..had many different styles on it, but the last (DR black beauties) sound the best. Has hipshot bridge which may get replaced by a shiny one and transfer the black to the Goth. Both have Hipshot tuners and they are nicer than the factory clovers on the VP. thanks for asking

That was more or less the idea. Black hardware, 1-ply black pickguard, graphite nut, DR Black Beauties. Only thing bright about it is the tone (currently both Quarter Pounds are straight-piped to the jack; pots that are on it aren’t wired in, but I’m mulling over doing a v/b without a working tone pot).
Just a simple black SX Vintage Jazz I've had for quite a few years.
I'll match your 5 and raise it 3!

Just dawned on me that my new Geddy Lee Jazz Bass belongs here. Going to have to get them all out to update my Black Bass family portrait as they have multiplied over the last few months. This arrived 11 days ago and it's quite impressive. After 30 years of holding down the Low End, I finally own a Jazz Bass. Being MIM, it's so much more than I expected. Installed the EMG JVX Set, tweaked it a bit and I really can't imagine anything playing or sounding any better. The neck is Perfect !
I guess I will add this one to the thread. I only had a couple of seconds to shoot a quick photo before I was out to the door to van call, So the photo sucks. I will try to remember to take more pictures later, some that show the sparkle finish and the weave on the graphite neck.

Hi Ed, we're on opposite paths! I play bass for 20 years and I bought my first precision this year, always played a Jazz bass. And I'm loving the Precision sound.
I stopped trying to find out what my favorite type is, I just love them both.
Yep, I've got a dozen P or P/J Basses. All the bridge Pickups are unwired on the P/J's because I've don't care to add any bridge to a P but, with the Active EMG JVX Set in the Jazz I think I may be starting to see where adding some bridge pickup my be useful in getting a little extra grind out of it. I'm really enjoying experimenting with it.
I won't stray far from the simplicity of my P Basses though.

The latest addition to the family....My satin baby.
Have been meaning to join in this thread for quite some times. So here it goes...
My first black bass was the one that my parents bought me in 1992. It was actually the 2nd bass they had bought me and was my first 5 string bass (the first was obviously a 4 stringer). Pardon the pic of the headstock. The guy who did the restringing had the low-B and G strings strung from the wrong directions on the tuning post (then I actually have undid it and rewound them myself, but never took pictures afterwards). Sold the bass after ±23 years I had it:
Maison TB-500
The next was my 3rd electric bass. It was the first 6 string bass I've ever owned. Only had it in few months. I sold it more less at the same price I got it:
Cort Action VI-A
The last one is the only black bass in my collections right now, although it isn't truly deep black colored as the first two. Still, Ibanez named the finish as black stained satin:
Ibanez SRFF806-BKS
