Ha! Thats a lot of humbucker eh. I actually moved the SR5 out of the house recently, preferring the ergos and series mode of the Sterling 5. Nevertheless, the remaining two are still very blue.

Crazy! One of my client who used to be a pro bass player, talked to me about that bass maker, just a few days ago, as the fact that he uses something close to the Rickenbacker shape for the body, and Jazz/Precision or such for the rest. Nice blend of several famous instruments

I so miss my 76 4001. Is that a WAL pickup where the bridge pickup use to be? And explain the switches.

That's a Dimarzio Model One. I never cared for the stock neck pickup in a Rick. (Or the bridge one either). The mini toggles are for switching each PU between series or parallel. There was space for them in that location. I did all the mods myself, and pleased with how clean it looks. (Aside from the scar where I split the brittle pickguard when cutting the wider opening).

Someone traded 5 vintage Rics into my local Guitar center and I went and played an '81 that felt great.

Time to keep this thread from gathering too much dust!

After bumming around "The 'Bay" for some unloaded Jazz bodies, I stumbled across an excellent, low-cost reproduction of Fender's metallic blue, reverse-burst, Dark Night finish. (For those wondering if it's an actual MIA body, it is not. There are no routs for neck-heel truss rods, nor string-thru construction.) After some extra routing by my local Guitar Center tech, it can now accept any BC-shaped pickup, which, to my great interest, opens it up to a plethora of pup designs.

I haven't decided which neck ultimately be paired up with the body, but the LeCompte Staggered Split-Coil pickups will likely stay. Once it's together and in full, working order, I'll post some proper photographs. In the meantime...
