My always trustworthy 1996 Sterling!

The only way I could get that much air is by jumping off the amp!! :roflmao:

Can you tell us about your black label, its mods, and why it's your all-time favorite?

Also curious what you were playing in the photo that hads you to the tip-top of the neck!

Cool photos, thanks!

Hey, nothing really fancy about the black label, it just has a great tone that cuts very well. The neck is

Nothing really special about my ‘94 Black Label, mostly a sum of parts that work great together. I don’t think I could duplicate it if I tried. The neck feels like a cross between a jazz and p bass, which I like, and the tone is more of a mid forward sound that grunts and growls when I dig in. I’ve replaced the pickups with EMG Geezers, put a badassII bridge on with diaddario pro steel strings, and hipshot tuners, to include a d tuner. Nothing major, but they all work together on this bass.

Regarding your other question, I’m guessing I’m doing a double stop in the key of e based on where my hands are. I just though it was a good shot to show the bass.

Ignore the fretless as it mostly stays home, but the other two go every show, about 4 gigs a month.

The Carlo is a fairly recent addition as for a long time I was rotating between my MIM P-bass, Jazz and my Artcore as they have the best vintage "Country" look (and I take that seriously). However the comfort and quality of these two eventually pushed the other two into the backseat. The Carlo was acquired a couple years ago and the Jazz has been much modded over the years (got a LDB neck this year) but has been with me since 2004

In Action.

The usual gig is two 1.5 hour sets. I do one set on each and the other is always plugged in and on the A/B switch as a backup.

I would like to give a small nod to my much-modded 1995 p-bass. Though it recently got pushed out of the rotation, it was my first bass and it has gotten at least some use in every musical situation I've been in for the past 23 years. A real workhorse and it has the scrapes, chips, and moddifcations to prove it.

To be fair it does get most of my home practice time, such as it is. I rarely take the other two out at home, I just leave them in my double-bag packed and ready to go.

At some point I may bring it out on a gig, but the more Fender'ish looks of the other two really suits the vibe of the group. Boots, western wear, a hats (not for my hawk though), etc.

I do want to bring the upright out sometime this year though...
