I've sold the '75 P Bass and the '62 AVRI now, but I still play the '55 CS P Bass with both covers premanently on. The pickup cover is perfect for resting my thumb on .

thanks. its in VERY nice shape (i.e straight neck) but its not mint. it has alot of fine finish checking, which i actually like and alittle wear, but nothing major. the bass plays and sound awesome. I use it when my band plays Yardbirds songs.

You guys with both bridge and neck pick up covers, where do you usually finger/pick? In between the bridge and neck cover, or close to the neck?

I only play fingerstyle and pluck in the exact same spot, wether the covers are on or not. The rare times I slap, I do like Marcus and rest my palm on the front cover.

Now, pardon the ignorance, but what exactly is the point of these things beyond aesthetics? More sustain? Smaller plucking area? I never got it.

thumb rest AND puts your slapping/popping hand in perfect position (the miller bass does have it too)
