I had planned to play the Gretsch at that gig, but our rhythm player broke a string and, as usual, didn't have a spare, so he got to play it while I played my other guitar.

Thank you! I always say Michael Schenker is the most famous guitarist that no one has heard of, as SO many "A" list guys cite him as a major influence.

Was supposed to give a kid a lesson today on guitar. He pulled a no show at the last minute. While I had the amp up, spent some time playing with my Johnson. Since I put tuners on, and went through it, pretty fun guitar. Working on my Ted Nugent-Hibernation. Think I'm gonna be playing this one a lot more.

The red Mockingbird is sharp.
I have one of those, on permanent loan to one of my guitarist. That's him with it at a backyard show.
I know I'm supposed to pick a guitar I own, but mines fairly ho-hum. So I decided to post this one instead.
The parentheses are just a "from this...to this" thing, or "before and after" hence the arrows. Top instrument is stock. bottom one is after I've "improved" it, with the mods noted in between them. With the Firebreather Mockingbird it wasn't worth posting 2 pics as the only noticeable change was the pickup really, so I just posted the finished version.

Nice. That's an Ibanez Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big) I think it's an FRM100 or FRM150. It's called The Fireman as opposed to the Paul Stanley (Kiss) Iceman which has the same body shape but reversed i.i.r.c.
Yup yup. I really dig the FRM's, but that may be because they kinda look like a a tweaked out Rickenbacker bass.
I've picked up a lot of used guitars in pawn shops, GC, Sam Ash, Fender dealer (also Ibanez)
The one that hooked me was a H-101FM, a $350 LTD
Well, I had one & let it go, but now I have my first new guitar & it sounds the same & feels the same:

What's nice is the neck joint is designed for easy access to the highest frets:
I liked those ESP Designed humbuckers so much in my old H-101FM that I sold my G&L Comanche
At that point I decided having a vibrato arm was just a distraction & it makes for changing tuning a PITA with a floating bridge.
Maybe I'll get a real ESP one day. I do miss the 3+3 headstock of the H-101FM, but there's nothing inherently bad about the pointy headstock.

Played my archtop 7 and the Taylor on the left last night. Been playing a lot of guitar these days. Hardly any bass.
I'm still kicking myself for not jumping when a friend offered to sell me his then two-year-old '97 Parker Fly Deluxe for only $900. I don't know what I was thinking. Love the way those guitars feel!
