I am selling mine , bought passive jazz bass and remembered who I actualy am hahaha!
Small cosmetic upgrade. Found an electroswitch p112. Lines up great with my 12 way varitone. Got a silver chickenknob on the way to see how it pops against the black switch plate. Going to be tighter fit for 3 way switch but might end up putting that on pickguard.
Because I crave chrome....swapped the black chicken knob for more chrome (I blame BMW bikes as a kid). Definitely pops against that black plate.
I did try a DMT (PMT) Passive High/Low Pass tone control but didnt seem to really work. Smidge of change on treble like a tone knob. Couldn't tell difference when switched to control bass.
Ah well, varitone gives me the changes I was looking for now. Did see some bass cut/treble cut mods using micro switches and I need to learn to solder

Just spotted this in a pawnshop recently.
It appears to be an SX bass, but with a soapbar neck pup and a regular J pickup at the bridge. The soapbar, as far as I can tell, is an Ibanez DX-5.

OLP MM3, bought new for $115 delivered. Probably thrown around $800 at it by now. Original pickup cuz it sounds killer. Original parts remaining, neck wood with truss rod, MM pickup.

I bought a 1980/81 Tokai Hard Puncher for ~$187 last month, which I think qualifies as a cheapo. I love the neck & have been wanting a vintage P bass so I hot-rodded it out, replacing almost everything other than the body & neck.

I’ve been living in the south of Japan for a few years, and although the little city I live in doesn’t have many good stores, occasionally something good shows up.
If anybody is still out there - I present my pride 'n joy,
30inch scale P bass bought new last year for $89 New Zealand (about US$57) delivered, incl padded gig bag, 10ft cable, clip on tuner, spare strings, strap and picks!
All the hardware was chrome. It did need a good setup, but otherwise was fine as it was. The frets are perfect, as far as I can tell.
My gorgeous Ibanez blazer was getting too big and heavy for me, so I've transferred most of the hardware from it including:
I sanded a corner off the back as it was digging into my ribs – now it's much more comfortable.
Planned further changes include:

- Gotoh Reza Lite GB 350 tuners
- solid brass Bridge
- gold string tree, pickguard screws, strap buttons and knobs
- strap button extension on the top horn (just a bit of plastic tube and a longer screw).

- Installing the pickup from my blazer
- reshaping the headstock into Telecaster style
- Relicking in the whole back of it.

This Ivy. Ivy came to me as a €80 no-name parts bass. This is the picture from the ad:
I swapped the white pickguard to perloid, added a fancy schmancy control plate, a thumb rest, block inlay stickers, and both ashtrays. The holes for the bridge cover were already there, the pickup cover is attached with double sided tape. The flats she came with are still on her.

Bought this 1990 Peavey Fury from local Craigslist ad for $60, it had no pickup.
Put an EMG Geezer in it and had to change the stock knobs to fit the GZR.
Done!

Put an EMG Geezer in it and put a white pickguard I had here on it.

To be fair my bass was on sale, but it does seem that gear prices in New Zealand aren't too bad these days. And yes I agree, it looks like my Artist brand bass is identical to the Harley Benton - even the headstock is the same shape.Makes you wonder why Antipodeans order from Thomann when they can get the same thing at home much cheaper
