Tonight’s gig.

Mb500
2 gk 112s
Carvin lb76
Warmoth j bass

Those newer Peavey Max combos with the knobs on top are pretty clean, simple-looking packages, and having the topmount chassis at the front of the cabinet, instead of the rear edge like a 4 x 10 tweed bassman or a Peavey Classic 30/Delta Blues seems like a good idea.

Like, why aren't there more front/topmount controls?

I'm digging the photo...the basic black box of amp really sets off the uniqueness and old-school-ness of the basses.

A short list of some of the “children” that you’ve decided to denigrate:

Marcus Miller
Jaco
Billy Sheehan
Stuart Hamm
Victor Wooten
Les Claypool
John Paul Jones
John Entwistle
Pino Palladino
Chris Squire
Bootsy Collins
Doug Wimbish
Nathan East
Doug Pinnick

I could go on, but I think you probably get the point.

The problem with opening your mouth, is occasionally being forced to pull your foot out of it.

I’m speaking tongue and cheek, Champ. Get with the program before defending the people who obviously don’t need to be defended. Xoxo

Thank you! I just got it yesterday, and have been enjoying quite a bit. After that photo was taken I worked on tone for each bass a bit and tapped the EQ settings on top of the bass. It is a simple, but effective set up. I have the German made Hofner set up to sound like early Police and I can't even turn the volume up to 2 it's so boomy (I live in a townhouse).

And this is why internet conversations can so easily go awry. One can not hear tonal nuance; or see body language or facial expressions, etc. It's easy to misunderstand intent from a keyboard. Plus this is TB after all. Any excuse to butt heads aye? ;)

By calling everyone who uses pedals a ‘child’ you took a shot at me.

I will always defend myself. You just made it easy, because your assumption was so easily defeated with actual evidence.

Play what you want. Makes no difference to anyone. But, keep your pedantic insults to yourself, or you risk being treated like the child you accuse others of being.

I’d rather not butt heads. I enjoy the info provided here, but I have no problem with challenging those who’d rather insult than inform.

Who doesn't like posting their rigs in these gear porn threads? :) I do so here we go...

For virtually all gigs the amp is a GK MB500 (with a MB200 as back up). Cabs are Avatar B210 neo and Avatar SB112 neo. Everything is nice and light. (For rehearsals, a small room or just stage sound I go with the 210 only.)

The bass is a Dean EABC modded with a Kent Armstrong sound hole pickup. Strings are GHS Brite Flats.

The acoustic has been my gigging bass for several years but for recording or the occasional desire to play my electric it's a 1990 Ibby SDGR SR800, also strung with Brite Flats (That little Ampeg BA108 is a great practice amp.)

I haven't used my pedalboard in a year or so, enjoying the simplicity. Although it is minimal with just a BDI21 amp modeler, a Boss Limiter-Enhancer compressor and tuner.

Every now and then when the gig warrants it and I feel like reliving the past, along with the weight that comes with it, I bring my GK 400RB II and 1990 SLM Crate with JBL K140s out of semi retirement. This really is a great sounding rig!

That's my little gear collection. The only thing I really want to add is an Epiphone Jack Casady in Alpine White. Watching the used market for one. :)

Keep posting your stuff guys. I love seeing them all.

Love your giging bass! So cool. What kind of music you play with that thing?

Thanks. I love it too. Proof that an inexpensive bass can play great.

The music is mostly original rock leaning folk and country with the occasional jam out song and surf tune thrown in.

A sample from a recent county fair gig. Note I'm using just the 210 box for stage sound, letting the fair's nice FOH do the heavy lifting.
