Far more interesting is air metal (not to be confused with hair metal) which is actually played without instruments. Musicians produce the vibrations in the air that is heard as sound by furiously moshing on stage. Electronic amplification is looked down upon in this sub-genre.

The first metal bands failed to attract any listeners as they had no magnetism. That early genre of metal is now categorized as non ferrous metal.
Personally, I prefer copper age metal to all other ages of metal.
The true old school metal though is bronze age (which came out of Europe). I tried listening to brass metal but it is too bright for the genre.
In the near future neodymium bands from China will take over, as they attract listeners, if necessary against their will.
Those neodymium metal bands are rare on earth. But they are really heavy.
It's a well known fact that vintage dymium has better tone than neodymium.
For hardcore Nordic Death Metal, using your own limb bones is the only way. A drummer using anyone else's is likely to be fired.
If you really want to be a good bass player then eat more Baloney,Pickle and Mayo sandwiches.

Singing in a language otehr than English means you aren't very good
The solid body electric guitar may have been invented by Les Paul, but it was based on previous efforts by Sir Oswald Osbourne, the 19th century inventor of the steam guitar, and amplifier system. This required a rather larger boiler and three stokers, but you could also produce your own steel at the same time. Osbourne was of course based in the steel-producing areas of Birmingham, and later Mr. Tony Iommi heard some of the recordings he did just as recording became possible towards the end of Osbourne's life, and immediately sought out his great-great grandson.
So these would still be the best basses for metal. In fact, finding one in playable shape for under a grand (stokers not included) would be a steel.
The next great wave in heavy metal is explosive metal. Instead of guitars and basses, carefully tuned explosives are used to produce the notes. The beat is provided by carefully timed firecrackers.
Well trained roadies are required for explosive metal bands. Also very strict rules apply.
