Let's spread some musical misinformation

Although piano keys are now white, originally, they were intended to be coloured from red to blue to let the pianist know what octave they were playing in. Black keys were intended to be white.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet were the original colours. Not only could you sing a rainbow, but also play one on the piano. Rhapsody in Blue was composed on such a piano, and uses notes in just one octave. Symphony in Green and Concerto in Yellow were less popular.

So that's the secret behind Green Day's songs!

Bono, often at the World Economic Forum in Davos, has expressed his love of statistics, and will be teaming up with Kate Bush on a concept album about log tables, the Fibonacci series, prime numbers, and excerpts from the most dull parts of OECD reports. The concept for the album is 'how to achieve the lowest sales of an album ever', which is an interesting statistic. 2 (the anticpated number of copies, one to Mr. Hewson, one to Ms. Bush), is a prime number, part of the Fibonacci series, and appears in several reports from the OECD.

Did he already predict the uncertainty contribution in the number of albums to be sold in the first 12 month, expressed as two times the standard deviation of the mean, being the equivalent of a confidence interval of 95.5%?

The intersection of math and music is fascinating. Whereas a perfect fifth is the 95% confidence interval, a 90% confidence is a third making it unclear if it is a major or minor finding.
