Let's spread some musical misinformation

Musical misinformation, lol.

Faster players are better. Once you can play 16th notes at 400BPM then you are ready for gigging.

Time feel and note choice are way down the list on thing that make a musician good, most important is the brand of instrument you play, what colour it is and that you tell enough people that you are good.

Buying the gear of you heroes and playing all their songs will make you as good as them, but probably better as you can claim their approaches and techniques as your own.

Root notes squarely on the beat is the best approach for a swinging bebop solo.

All bass lines need a space to play the 13#5#9#11 chord, otherwise you know the bass player is just learning.

If the bass isn't doubling the guitar, they are messing up the song, extra points for playing in the same octave as the guitar, extra extra points go to bass players that perform their doubling on a guitar in the same octave as the other guitar players. Who really needs separate lines anyway?

A great player uses all techniques in each bar, regardless the genre or tempo.

Reading notation won't help you learn anymore about music.

All instruments are made in the same factory and just shipped out for labelling, the people on those factory tours are just actors who are going method.

The darker the colour an instrument is the deeper the sound, want to add some more highs? Give it some white stripes.

That's cuz the beer back then was fermented in dragon hide and the beer mugs were walrus skulls...and drummers STILL had to have two at a time.

Rock bands, which have the bassist as their singer or one of their singers, can do so because these bassists use the minimal amount of technique needed. Simple is better when it comes to playing bass for these folks because they can focus on their vocal talents and not be bothered with learning theory, putting work into playing bass or caring about what sounds good.
Some of the most prominent examples of this are as follows:
Geddy Lee
Chris Squier
James Dewar

Gene Simmons is not listed here, obviously because he is the best bassist ever from the best band ever.

Gene Simmons was invited to become a professor at the Berklee School of music, but he turned the position down because:
1. He would not be allowed to wear make-up while teaching,
2. He would not be allowed to use pyrotechnics in class, and
3. They did not offer enough money.

He also. while being interviewed was accused of harassing a young female student but he replied that it was all just tongue in cheek.
