Lemmy, being British of birth, ordered a ploughman's lunch wherever went.
Nowadays ploughmen are protected by law, so they can't just be served anymore. And the ploughman was normally too intimidated to object.
I think I have either 20 or 21 fretlesses on my blank fingerboard, and probably more than a few intonations thrown in for good measure. If you play fretless, the fingerboard cant have lines or else everybody will think you're a total noob. A lined fingerboard also effects the tone because, science has proven it.
Nobody plays a plain fretless anymore. Not since Dingwall brought out the multi-scale "fanned" fretless.I think I have either 20 or 21 fretlesses on my blank fingerboard, and probably more than a few intonations thrown in for good measure.
Some fretless bass players have found that their instruments are easier to play if they put metal bars across the fretboard at intervals. However they tend to keep quiet about their innovation as they are often shunned by the traditional (or 'orthodox' as they call themselves) fretless bassists.
As a born worrier I like having frets. They're a sort of comfort blanket, albeit not very comfortable. The admonition "don't fret" indicates that having no frets is preferable.
so a fretless bass is the best bass for death metal?Fretless means no tuning, no intonation.
Metal guitarists have added 7 and 8 string guitars to give themselves more keys in which they can chug, perhaps as a means to keep up with drummers that would have two bass drums.
The trend has expanded with triangle players buying four and even five sided triangles.
You have to worry when a triangulist gets too much into pentangles.
Of course, the two sided triangle (inside and outside) is known as a Tubular bell.
