Letts Custom Shop

out of curiosity has anyone had any experience with Letts basses. It's a small custom shop in the UK and was wondering whether anyone had any experience with them. The owner seems like a really nice guy and I found out that I could get a custom 7 string fretless for about £700-£800 with a basic set up.Is this a good idea?

That's about $1200 USD and CHEAP for a custom bass.

Jon's basses are great. Lightweight for those with dodgy backs and beautifully built and finished. Here's my one...

Spec is:
35" scale
1-pc quartersawn mahogany neck (set in)
Honduras mahogany body
Zebrano top
Letts Humbucker Handmade pickup, passive, CTS pots with ebony knobs
Ebony fingerboard and headstock
Ebony pickup case
Hipshot ultralite tuners and Astyle bridge

I know Jon personally and can vouch for the fact that his basses are excellent in build and in value.

Thanks for the replies I went down to try out some basses over Christmas and had to say they were the best I'd played. I liked them so much that I'm actually ordering a 7 string fretless in a week
