My "solo" disc (which is all cover tunes BTW and not a Victor Wooten wanna-be wank fest) that I'm working on is going to have Love Games on it.

I've never been a huge Level 42 fan. But, DAMN, I'm diggin that MP3 you posted up. This CD is going on my wishlist

Edit: I just listened to more of those clips on the website. Wow!!! I've never been soo excited to get a CD about a band I dont know much about.

Actually he played Jazz basses for a very brief time in 1998/1999 around the release of his solo CD "One Man." Fender briefly released a signature version, but there were several quality control problems in the production run and King requested it be discontinued. I only have him on one recording (Ohne Filter) playing it, and even that one, I think, was really a boutique copy.

Plus, he's not a J guy. I didn't even think he was a 'Ray guy, although the bass sounds damned good on Forever Now.

Those are some killer tracks from the new one...can't wait for it.

Well, Boon Gould (the original guitar player) and Mark King co-wrote most of the material. But he's not touring with them.
And Mike Lindup (the original keyboard player) is back in the band.

Great! Mike Lindup has amazing pipes! I heard that Phil is out due to health problems, and Boon just plain retired. I haven't done any checking, but that's what I had heard a few years ago from a fellow Levelhead.

I can say this about them, Boon and Phil were exceptionally nice to me when I met them, and Mike seems a gentle soul as well. Mark took the time to show me some stuff, his signature triplets mainly, which I got down in front of him but 30 minutes later had totally forgotten! Took me 6-7 weeks to figure them out again! Got to play one of his red Jaydees, and got to hold one of his Status. They had a pretty cool bus, as well! Annie McCaig was very territorial and protective of Mark, she was a beetch to me, but she's a female, which might have explained it. :eyebrow:

Man this is really good news to these old ears.

Lots of the heavy gospel players in my town were/are heavily into Mark Kings riffs and that is a compliment of the highest order as these are some "heavy" players.

I'll never forget walking into The Music Works on Clark street and hearing one of these guys playing "43" and some other of MK's extended type tunes.

I confess I liked the original band lineup the best (especially the drumming) but as long as the writing is still there I'll be listening.

Yeah, but the later stuff with Gary Husband on drums (and for a short time Alan Holdsworth on guitar!:EEK:) is still pretty sweet.
Actually Husband wrote a few tunes for L42.

The "Forever Now" disc has some good jems on it (check out "All Over You"). "Guaranteed" also has some good ones on it too.

The recient Mark King solo disc "One Man" is OK. Nothing like his first one which was killin'

The Fender,Mark King signature Bass was discontinued at the request of MK,one of the reasons was because he felt they weren't road Worthy enough after taking a few out on tour when he first got them and they were literally falling apart in his hands(fingerboard coming apart was one of the problems).Fender only made 45 MK signature J Basses.
