…so I bought the bass!

Fender’s website showed the maple fretboard version; laurel was the sole choice in the options… either way, a pretty good deal based on other posters’ comments!

Was looking for an inexpensive bass for downtime at the office… this should do fine!

Good buy, indeed. I got the same from Fender's website, a month ago. I like the bass. It arrived without needing a thing. Frets were good. Pickup is a little different but I like it. I changed the strings and tweaked the setup but that's SOP for me. It's lightweight. I installed a Fender Hi-Mass bridge but the balance was fine without it. Now I did change one cosmetic thing - very white wood. I tinted it down a little so it doesn't look so ghostly to me. Best of luck with your bass!

Indeed. The life of a tinkerer is not easy but it's the one that I choose. Be it a bass, car, motorcycle, house, computer, whatever...nothing is safe.

LOVE mine, despite heavily modifying it. It's a gorgeous and lovely sounding bass. Also the ultra violet version. Great deal, and also purchased at that sale price last year.

Is yours Laurel or Maple fretboard?

While all my other basses are maple, and would have preferred it on the Sonic… I’m curious to try the laurel.
