If your looking for mids and highs, the 15" driver ain't the choice. It is highly directional (beaming) at much lower frequency than a 10" driver.

15" is just the wrong choice for your described requirements.

- Unless you also have a dedicated midrange driver. As my earlier link indicates I favor three-way designs. But a good neo 15 like the so-affordable Kappalite 3015LF, and a dedicated midrange, really has a nice tonal signature, makes great use of available power, and seems to give me what I don't find in all the commercially available two-ways. I really feel that good polar response in the midrange is where most of the detail lives whether going for an enhanced old-school vibe, or something a little more aggressive.

Though the Omni 15 Tallboy is going to be on my dancecard.

The OP asked specifically for a 1x15. No mention was made of wanting mid drivers, nor any other addition that would otherwise improve the performance.

I can read. Nevertheless I will suggest that possibilities of improvement are worth considering without ditching the 15 completely. I hope that wasn't as snarky as your reply seemed to me.

I can read too. The OP asked for a 1x15, and got an answer appropriate for his question. He did not ask about a 3-way, or if a 3-way is more appropriate, etc. He wanted a light weight 1x15, and then responded to my question about his requirements. A 1x15 doesn't fit his requirements.

I don't know if you've ever noticed, but often discussions gain from having a little inout that goes beyond what the inital conversation openers are, and may be of some use. Varied insights cettainly do not hurt and there is certainly no harm in well-considered mentions of related material - for FUTURE consideration, or just to mull upon when puzzling through the labyrinth of what one is hearing or not hearing, if nothing else.

Additionally, I believe the forum already has moderators. Please consider some looser underwear before attempting to become one.

Rob, I will also recommend the Bag End S15-D. It's very easy to carry up stairs, and the spring-loaded handled are vertically-oriented so that when you lift the cab, you pull the cab into your chest- it is very secure.

It's loud, punchy, and fits the tonal profile desired, with the exception of ultra highs. If you tilt this cab back, you will get plenty of mids and lower highs if you stand in front of it. It truly does sound great in a band mix live.

Or you can tote a few more pounds and get the little-cab-does-it-all S15X-D. Yeah!!

I'd say UL-115 or BE S15D. Though, I think most would prefer the tone of the UL-115.

That said I still havent sold my BE S15D. Its just so portable.

When I first tried out the Markbass LMII at Guitar Center, it was plugged into one of the Markbass front-ported 15's and I adored the full deep sound.... I plan to get one, but first I plan to obtain a secondhand Berg HT210... and even before that I need to sell some stuff or get paid again (next payday is the 30th... i hate waiting...haha) so I can afford to buy new stuff and pay my bills too....
