This is a great topic. I wonder if anyone can help me? I just bought a sterling which is fitted with lightish gauge strings (.100 for the E) and although it seems 'faster' than my Fender Jazz Bass it doesnt seem as easy to slap??
I am wondering why? I measured the gap between the strings and the Fender has approx 1mm more than Sterling but I dont think that would make a massive difference. Does anyone know what Fender Jazz's ship with? I only had it 2 months so havent changed them yet but they look thicker than Sterling strings to me? Could be imagination - hard to tell
I imagine this would make a difference to slap if I am not used to the lighter gauge? I seem to be struggling to deaden the other strings a little.
Thanks for any replies
Steve
