Lightest round wound set for 6 string?

Hey all,

Quick question, does anyone know who makes the lightest gauge roundwound strings for a 6 string bass? The bass in question is an Ibanez BTB series.

I recently bought a few high end, boutique pedals (Chase Bliss Mood, Chase Bliss Blooper, Meris Polymoon, Meris Hedra, etc) and I would like to experiment with a very light gauge of string as to not muddy up the tonal experiments I would like to undertake.

I realize that I can have a custom string set made but I am looking for a set that I can google and find somewhere from a retailer online.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

If you want really light strings start with a medium gauge set, move them all over one slot and add a .020 single on top.

It'll be interesting to see if your assumption that lighter strings are brighter proves accurate. It usually isn't the case.

40-102 or 40-95 (for the EADG) is not particularly light, that just shows the poor choice for 6 string sets.
Extra light would have something like 30-90 for EADG.
You could buy an extra light 4 string set plus 2 suitable singles for B and C, then you have far more choice.
Or a 4 string set for BEAD and add singles for GC.

Kalium Strings have the largest gauge choice of 6 string sets (they have stainless steel sets too elsewhere).

After spending the weekend watching countless videos on youtube, I think I would like to have a picollo bass for the particular musical experiments I am working on.

Now, the question becomes, can I turn my Ibanez BTB into a Piccolo bass? I read that short scale basses are preferred? I understand that I may have to replace the nut, and that's fine but I would really like to have one.

The Chase Bliss and Meris pedals I recently bought lend themselves to higher register instruments but i would prefer using a bass to create with them rather then a guitar.

Any insight as to whether a long scale bass can become a piccolo bass? ... Is it just the matter of the string gauges?

Just ordered a nickel set of Fodera ultra lights. Gonna give them a shot on my Roscoe before I splurge on the TI Jazz Rounds.
