Hey everyone. I have a fender reggie hamilton jazz bass (about 9 lbs) and am looking for a lighter bass (around 7-8 pounds hopefully). I am open to fender, lakland, warwick, etc. as long as it's around $1000. Thanks

Lightweight basses!

There was a 44-02 in the classified that claimed to be 7 lbs. Things very by model so whatever bass you're looking at, ask the owner how much it weighs.
My squier is the lightest bass I have ever played, but the name brand makes it "uncool" with most people.

My Musicman Sterling is the lightest bass that I own. I also own a Fender Jazz deluxe and it is quite a bit heavier than the Sterling bass. I have never weighed it though to know the actual weight but I would say that it is under nine pounds. You can pick up a nice used used Sterling for under $1000.00.
Truth be told, weight may vary among many stock models that you might be able to find something reasonable. I know I've played some Fenders that were super light and some that were better for a boat anchor.
